Teignmouth Folk Festival is an annual event held in the town of Teignmouth, South Devon. It features performances by professional and amateur folk singers and musicians and a gathering of lots of morris and other folk dance teams for performances in the town over a weekend every June.
Their original website was written in html code and was in need of a major update to allow the administrators to manage the content themselves. We recommended the use of Backdrop CMS to provide this and offered to build the new website at no cost, which was accepted. Hosting is sponsored by Natty Web Development to minimise any cost to the folk festival committee.
The website features a view showing the folk dance teams appearing, along with team details, a photo and contact info. This is presented using an 'accordion' display to make it easy to quickly view all the teams attending. There is also a page showing all of the planned artist performances, together with brief summary and photo for each artist. This also provides a link to the venue details for each performance, including a location map.
Many of the dance teams and artists perform each year, so the information can be re-used along with details of the date of performance. This allows the admin team to keep the website up to date with a minimum of additional effort.
